Pengertian Recount Text
Sesuai apa yang sudah saya singgung sedikit diatas, recount Text merupakan teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang menceritakan tentang kejadian, kegiatan, atau pengalaman yang pernah terjadi dengan seseorang. Pengalaman tersebut pada umumnya bersifat menghibur walaupun tak menutup kemungkinan pengalaman sedih juga diceritakan.
Ciri-ciri Recount Text
Teks recount memiliki beberapa ciri yakni sebagai berikut :
• Menggunakan kata kerja verb 2 seperti went, departed, would, ate, washed, woke up, dan lain sebagainya.
• Menggunakan adverb (kata keterangan) dan adverbial phrase guna mengungkapkan waktu, tempat dan cara, seperti last Januari, Pari Island, on then first day, dan lain sebagainya.
• Memakai conjunction dan time connectives untuk mengurutkan peristiwa atau kejadian. Contohnya yaitu and, after that, before, then dan lain sebagainya

Sedangkan untuk struktur teksnya, recount Text terdiri atas orientation (orientasi), events (kronologi), dan juga re-orientation (penegasan ulang). Berikut ini masing-masing penjelasannya :
1. Orientation
Orientation merupakan struktur dari teks recount yang menjelaskan latar belakang informasi tentang kejadian yang terjadi sebenarnya. Pada bagian ini penulis menceritakan tentang siapa, kapan, dan dimana peristiwa tersebut terjadi.
2. Event
Struktur berikutnya adalah event. Menceritakan kejadian atau peristiwa sesuai dengan urutan kronologis.
3. Re-orientation
Re-orientation atau reorientasi merupakan penegasan ulang atas peristiwa yang sudah diterangkan pada bagian orientasi dan event. Bisa juga berisi kesimpulan atau perasaan yang dialami seseorang setelah mengalami peristiwa tersebut.
Contoh Teks Recount Tentang Liburan
Teks recount pada dasarnya terdiri atas 3 jenis, yaitu personal recount, imaginative recount, factual recount, dan historical recount. Pengalaman liburan dapat digolongkan ke dalam personal recount karena menceritakan pengalaman pribadi seseorang saat liburan. Berikut adalah salah satu contoh teksnya.
My Trip in Papuma Beach
Last October, I went to Papuma Beach for a holiday. I went there with my family (fathet, mother, sister, anda Ingin). That was my first time to travel there. we visited various tourist attractions in jember
Our plane departed from Juanda Airport to the Notonegoro Airport at 8.00 AM. We came at Jember around 9.00 Am. Then, we went to our hotel that we had booked before. Fortunately, our hotel was located not too far from the airport, so we did not have to walk so far. The first thing that we did after that was rent motorcycle. It only cost IDR 70.000 per day. Then we did cycling for a while and had lunch before we decided to vacationing in this place.
While at Papuma Beach, it was really unfortunate for us because the weather was not friendly. Not only that, high waves hit the lips of the beach. For this reason, all beach visitors are advised not to approach the sea, especially to swim there. Finally we decided to take pictures just to capture the moment of the holiday this time.
Only on the second, third, fourth and fifth days all went well. My family and I could get close to the sea and had time to surf there. Sometimes we also play sand like what we did 5 years ago while visiting the same beach. After that we decided to go back to the inn to rest because the next day we had to go back to Surabaya.
Although only for a while, but I was really satisfied with the first vacation experience in Jember Regency. Hopefully one day we will be given another chance to visit a beautiful beach.
